The smooth surface allows you to engrave the small smooth oval medallion beautifully. However, always keep in mind when choosing an engraving that it is a small locket. This means it is ideal for initials, a symbol or a name. Whole sayings become very very small on it and are then possibly no longer good to read ;)
The inner surface of the small smooth oval locket is curved. This means for those of you who don't want to put photos in it, you can also put tiny little things in it.
