While the slender Buddha is predominant in Thailand, the pot-bellied, smiling and always cheerful Buddha originates from Chinese and Japanese Buddhism. He is also known there as the Happy Buddha. This Happy Buddha stands for the joy of life and for the point of total contentment with oneself and the rest of the world.
