First: A little ode to the abolition of simplicity

We all wear them and hardly anyone gives them the attention they actually deserve: chains. Silver necklaces are generally considered to be disdainful basic pieces of jewellery. I cannot speak of them freely. I too have denounced these beautiful pieces of jewellery in this way. But there are so many chains. Armor chains, snake chains, anchor chains, infection chains... Oh. I must have made a wrong turn in my thoughts. Sorry.

Silver chains are rarely allowed to stand for themselves. Most of the time you buy a chain for the pendant you want to wear with it. And that's completely ok, after all there is silver jewellery in the team (Hihi, she said intimately! Oh. Crap. There it was again, the wrong turn!) just better!

But just like you have your own personality, every silver necklace has its own character. There are necklaces that want lots of love and tenderness. And there are necklaces that are available for every adventure. And even the same type of necklace can change its nature depending on size, length and strength.

So a very delicate curb chain , which likes to be placed in the group of a layer look, can become a very massive curb chain from the appropriate size on, which doesn't tolerate anyone next to it. A really massive curb chain doesn't want to wear a pendant (I can already hear from a distance how the curb chain is angry: "Let him carry himself, I'm not his pack mule!) Big tank chains are enough for themselves and love the attention. There is no more room for rival jewellers who want to take the interest away from the tank chain.

So... what kind of chain type am I?

So here is the first point where you should go into yourself. Are you more the playful type who likes to keep a lot of magical necklace options open? Then gogogo for the sweet, delicate tank chain! You can wear it as a necklace for small pendants. You can wear it as a choker chain. You can combine two more silver chains and wear a great layer look.

Or are you the rock in the surf? Irrefutable in your decisions and always clearly focused on one thing? Then you better look for a statement chain. Far away from basic silver chains. Browse through the massive tank chains, the fancy king chains or the big pea chains. Sure, this kind of silver chain might cost a little bit. But finally you don't need 3 pieces of it to create a layer look ;)

And what about my sensitivity?

Because this is the second point you should consider when choosing your chain. There are many chains. Every single silver chain is magical and has its raison d'être on
(maybe I'm going too far out of my depth here, but I'll take a chance). But as I have already indicated, there are also rather sensitive personalities among the necklaces.

So if you are one of the gross motoric people, you will be rather unhappy with a snake chain for example. Because a snake chain is practically the lady among the silver chains. A snake chain has beautiful curves, knows how to use them and is ravishingly elegant. But a snake chain also wants to be appreciated as a chain. A snake chain wants to be treated delicately and cannot handle rudeness. A snake chain is looking for a gentleman (or of course a gentlewoman, gender mainstream :)). Because once the snake chain is broken, this chain will never forgive you for it. A snake chain is resentful.

But if you are looking for an uncomplicated companion, you are better off with other types of chains. Do you like to throw your silver chain into your jewelry box just like that? (Yes, how else? The little bag in which your chain was delivered, you threw away years ago ;P) Taking off your chain for sleeping or showering is a totally absurd thought for you? And your silver necklace should match the most different outfits? May I introduce: The anchor chain will be your new best friend. An anchor chain is very easy-care, forgives a lot and will accompany you faithfully for years. Just a real buddy type.

And if I'm not jumping naked through the quarantine right now ... what am I wearing?

Ok, so you already know if it's a delicate or a solid chain. You also know if you are more Princess Kate or more like Lara Croft (or George Clooney versus Chuck Norris. And Chuck Norris gets 20 percent off everything. Even on tank tracks).

Then comes the third important point that you should always consider when choosing tracks: What should your new favorite necklace actually go with?
First of all, there's the thing with the neckline. You don't want the silver chain to disappear in your neckline all the time (I admit: this problem is more likely to be with the Kate faction than the Chuck faction). Therefore it is important that your chain is either short enough to end before the neckline or long enough to fit comfortably over the neckline.

In the past it was easily said that 42 to 45 cm is the common length for ladies necklaces. Everything underneath is for children. Everything above is for men. But that's nonsense, of course. A choker necklace for women is somewhere between three and four inches. And if a girl wants to wear her medallion close to her heart and therefore a little longer, 40 cm will often not be enough. And men... Yes, men always do what they want anyway!)

And as soon as the neckline is cleared, it gets even more complicated. Because to which clothes exactly should the necklace fit? You will always want to show off your necklaces on a cuddly sweater in winter in a different way than on an airy blouse in summer. In most cases you will need a stronger chain for a sweater than for a soft blouse. Otherwise your necklace will get lost in the warm sweater wool. And if a silver chain is one thing, then it should be seen :)

As if this wasn't already extensive enough, we will continue with the chain colour. The mean silver chain probably fits to all kinds of clothes. But then there are these fiends - the gold-plated silver chains! And these gold-plated silver chains give a certain affinity to the colour of the clothes by their own colour alone. So if you like to wear neon-green clothes, you might want to ask yourself if a rose-gold-gold-plated silver chain would suit you so well ;)

So.Clothes. Check. And what about my hairstyle?

You have short hair? Congratulations. For you the reconnaissance trip is over. You now have a free choice among the three necklaces that were left after the pre-selection. Knock yourself out! ;)

You have long hair? Yeah. Well, then there's a bonus round. Because you need a silver chain that your hair won't get caught in.
Never happens anyway? Well. Not exactly. A snake chain, for example, has a very characteristic structure: There's the core of the chain, for one thing. A kind of silver wire. Around this silver wire is another, flat silver wire wrapped. This allows a snake chain its wonderful suppleness. But every now and then this also leads to individual hairs getting caught in the outer silver wire coat.

If you want to avoid this, you should also avoid the snake chain. For you, for example, a tube chain can be the perfect alternative. Tube chains remind you of snake chains due to their natural curves. But these silver chains have a completely different structure. If you take a closer look, you could almost think that the material mesh of a tube chain looks like the string that you could always make with a knitting dolly in the past :)

Last but not least - what was basic about silver chains?

Nice that you accompanied me on my tour through the endless imponderables of silver chains :)

I think one thing has definitely become clear: Even if necklaces are often "only" accompanying accessories, they offer an eternity of variety. To know which silver necklace you are looking for, you first have to know which silver necklace suits you. Don't just take a silver necklace just because there is no other. Choose a silver necklace because it exactly reflects your personality. And if you want help with this, just come to us at any time. We certainly have countless experiences and wisdom that we would like to share with you ;)
