Maybe you have always wanted to try a bearded pearl for your beard?
Or even decorate your dreadlocks with a hair bead? There are a lot of great hair ornaments to put hair in the limelight. But - how the hell do you get these little hair beads or beard pearls into your hair? This question seems to give some of our Love Your Diamonds customers a headache, so we would like to help with this mail :)

First of all the basics: Hair beads and beard beads come in different sizes.

Sounds totally obvious, but in fact it's the first point that is often forgotten when shopping. In order to know which hair decoration you need, you first have to decide where you want to wear your hair decoration. Should the beard pearl cover the whole beard? Or do you want many small beard pearls for individual strands of your beard? And how thick is your beard? Of course the same questions arise for "normal" hair or dreadlocks. Tailored to your wishes, you should then start looking for the right hair decoration for you :)

So. Hair pearl or beard pearl is found. And how do I get this thing on now?

The threader

In the most different shops you can find hair threaders for hair ornaments. This can work well - but the important thing is always: Handle the hair threader very gently. With brute force you will not get a bead of hair in your hair with this tool ;)
(The hair threader is suitable for "loose" hair. With dreadlocks you won't get anywhere with this good piece)
You first pull the beard bead or the hair bead onto the threader (delicate) and lead the bead all the way down (delicate, delicate). Then you thread your beard or hair into the threader. This will "open" the threader. This is a kind of "loop" and the beard or hairs are simply pulled through the loop. When everything is in place, you can push the beard or hair bead back up with one hand (you know, gently!) and pull it onto your hair using the hair threader. Once the bead is where you want to wear it, simply pull the rest of your hair out of the bead with the other hand and finally release the threader from your hair.

Push the bead into your beard or hair. The more force you use, the more your threader bends. In the worst case, if the threader is not built that solidly, even the wire slips out of the holder and the good piece is broken.
A small but important note at this point: If you like to wear bone beads in your hair, a threader is not so good for you either. Often these get broken when the threader puts them on.

Preparation of the hair or beard with beard jerk

Sounds fun, but can help especially with unruly hair. Because the beard or hair balm helps to bring the hair into the necessary shape. It is basically the same principle as threading a thread into a needle eye. We usually lick the end of the thread to make it fit better through the small bottleneck. In the case of hair, we use the beeswax contained in the beard jelly for this purpose, with which the beard hair or head hair can be shaped wonderfully to a point. Experience shows that this makes it much easier to thread the hair into the hair ornament.

Taming the hair with a thread

For particularly stubborn hair, a thin thread (or sewing thread) can also be used for support. To do this, simply wind the thread from top to bottom in a spiral around your beard or hair. The hairs tied together in this way can then be pushed through the bead more easily. When the beard bead or hair bead sits where it should, the thread can easily be released again.

Fixing the hair ornament with a rubber

So now you have finally managed to thread the beard bead into your hair. But now the stupid thing keeps sliding down! This is also no problem at all :)

Just get little rubber bands. You can even buy them explicitly as "beard hair rubbers", but mostly it is cheaper, you just buy the same rubbers without the fancy name ;)

It's best to choose either transparent or black rubbers, depending on your hair colour. You can then knot them into your hair underneath the beard or hair bead. This way the small rubber bands prevent the hair decoration from sliding down again. With slightly larger beard pearls or hair be ads, the hair ornament can even be pulled over the rubber after fixing the rubber. This way you don't pull the rubber at all and everything fits bombproof.
